Evan Marc Bartholomew aka Bluetech is a Psybient DJ/producer who creates downtempo and psybient music. Bluetech's music is very diverse, even for a psybient artist. He places significant emphasis on melody in his productions, and his works often demonstrate an influence from Dub and Ambient Techno. Although Bluetech's music includes some "organic" samples, it is created mostly using digital synthesizers and production software, giving a very "Digital" quality to it, much like the Glitch inspired sounds of Yaniv Shulman, who has also released albums through Aleph Zero Records.
StyleEvan Bluetech produces his unique style of digital downtempo from the West Coast of North America. Classically trained on the piano for public performing, Bluetech deviated from the traditional structure of classical music and being to relearn the instrument from an energetic and tonal perspective. This resulted in his interpretation of nature's expression of being, establishing a playing style that is dronal ambient, downtempo and improvisational. Explosions in technology and software have enabled him to explore the edges of contemporary music production, and a sound has developed which draws from the psychedelic community as well as the experimental/IDM community. His style fits somewhere snuggly between the two, and has been described as PsyDM (psytelligent dance music) and SpaceHop. HistoryBluetech's first track was released on Truffle Records in 2003. Since then Bluetech has released tracks on a number of other labels. In 2004 Bluetech launched his own label, Native State Records. Native State Records is a west coast electronic music label exploring the edges between downtempo, idm, dub, and other chilled forms of music. Eclectic, expansive, and futuristic... After the release of "Sines & Singularities" in 2005, Bluetech has also been releasing albums under the names Evan Marc and Evan Bartholomew.
