Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic (Portuguese: República Portuguesa), is a country on the Iberian Peninsula. Located in southwestern Europe, Portugal is the westernmost country of mainland Europe and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south and by Spain to the north and east. The Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira are also part of Portugal.

History

Back in the 90´s a new movement appeared in Portugal, the psychedelic scene. It all started with small reunions, in hidden places that only some knew, and where the main ingredients were the gathering of people, the experiences and friends. Since that time many things have changed, the movement itself, the people, the parties and the music. Like some other small movements, they all grow, they become recognized and they bring attention to a larger number of people.

This country has been recognized over the years as one of the central keys in the psychedelic movement, not only because it has one of the biggest and more well known European open-air festival (Boom Festival) but also because every weekend there´s a good party to attend to, outdoor or in a club.

Since this is not an underground movement anymore in this country, big cities like Lisbon and Porto already have their weekly clubs making Trance parties with an average price between 3 and 30€.

In an overview of this past 15 years, since it all started, there´s a more media exposure of parties, a more nacional renowned Djs and producers, and widespread of parties and organizations (for week 1 to 10 parties are made all over the country), is becoming one of the main music forms in peoples interests.

This upcoming year is full of good events to attend to in Portugal, from big festivals to one day parties, specially in the summer, it will be for shure, once more, a year to remember. Starting with the Sinergia Summer Camp, produced by two of the most well known organizations in this country, Omium and Quest4goa. This will be a full week gathering, with a multi cultural standard where music, art and culture will melt in a single reunion. It will take place at the magical S.Giao camping (where the After-Boom is made), and it will start on July 2nd and finishes July 5th. Another option is the Freedom Festival, produced by Cristal Matrix, taking place at Barragem do Caia in Elvas, and starting on August 6th, finishing August 10th. Both festivals will bring for shure a even more global psychedelic scene of new concepts, showing to the world the evolution of the psy-trance scene.

Also showing their fantastic work are nacional labels such as Spectral, Hypergate and Flow Rec presenting us with some new fresh releases, and excellent artists such as Menog, Khopat, Tryon, Tryambaka, D-Tector, just to name a few; and Artist Agencies such as Magnetika Female Artist Agency, that gathers female artists in areas like Dj, Vj, Decor and Design, showing an original and interesting way to present upcoming new talents, that are becoming even more noticed. Also with this new project we have been discovering that women are becoming really interested in taking part of the scene, by becoming talented artists in this movement, and Portugal is an example of that.

Portugal trance movement is walking towards a symbolic partying place to be at, for the people, for the parties and specially for the feeling of it, always enjoying our fantastic weather and spirit.
